Florian Klumpp
Research Associate
Florian is a research associate at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where he contributes to a project on advancing the German and European strategic agenda on critical and emerging technologies, particularly vis-à-vis the US and China. His research interests include the role of industrial, tech and climate policies in the context of global order reshuffling as well as European relations with China and other East Asian countries.
Before joining GPPi, Florian gained experience in climate policy, green tech and climate diplomacy through internships with China Policy and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), where he worked on two projects facilitating Sino-German cooperation on climate change. In addition, he interned with the Mercator Institute for China Studies and the German Consulate General in Shanghai, analyzing EU-China relations, Chinese foreign policy and Germany’s evolving debate around China.
Florian holds a master’s degree in East Asian Economy and Society from University of Vienna. He received his bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies and Management from the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz. During his studies, he spent two semesters abroad at universities in Shanghai and Taipei. Florian’s studies and internships were supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Erasmus+.
