Gelila Enbaye
Research Associate
Gelila Enbaye is a research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she contributes to the institute’s work on peace and security. As a Next Generation Foresight Practitioners Fellow, her current work explores futures-thinking in mediation and peacebuilding. Her interests include foresight and futures methods, intersectional and decolonial approaches to peacebuilding and the political economy of conflict.
As part of the Stabilization Lab team, she co-developed a simulation game on economic incentives facing conflict actors. Currently, she is working on African perspectives on crisis management and stabilization as part of the Stabilization Lab.
Prior to joining GPPi, Gelila worked for the consultancies Africon in Germany and Control Risks in Paris. She also gained experience in policymaking processes through internships with the German Federal Foreign Office and the US House of Representatives. As an intern in the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation’s West Africa office, Gelila prepared publications and planned multiple policy conferences across the region. In addition, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Mannheim in a research project on pro-government militias worldwide.
Gelila holds a dual master’s degree in international security and international relations and an undergraduate degree in political science and sociology. Her studies were supported by a Deutschlandstipendium and by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
