Sophie Ebbecke
Research Associate
Sophie Ebbecke is a research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she contributes to the institute’s work on peace and security. Her work focuses on the evaluation and quality management of extremism prevention. Some of her research interests include impact assessment of P/CVE interventions, gendered perspectives in violent extremism and conflict analysis.
Prior to joining GPPi, Sophie was a tutor at Leiden University, where she taught in the Security Studies Bachelor’s Program. She also contributed to a research project assessing safeguards against radicalization and extremism within NATO militaries. As an intern and consultant for the International Crisis Group and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), she also gained experience in media outreach and capacity development in fragile contexts.
Sophie holds a master’s degree from Leiden University in crisis and security management with a specialization in the governance of radicalization, extremism and terrorism. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Freie Universität Berlin and spent a semester abroad in Ankara.
