Solution on Calais migrant camp could have been found earlier
The relocation of migrants from the infamous camp in Calais, France, shows that pragmatic problem-solving could have prevented the political controversy around the camp and its poor conditions, said Julian Lehmann on Al Jazeera’s Inside Story on October 25. Discussing the consequences of the demolition of the Calais “jungle” with Lonard Doyle of the International Organization for Migration in Geneva, Lehmann argued that chaotic images from the migrant camp have been used to fuel anti-immigration fears for political reasons.
