Peacebuilding methods should be applied to European societies

European societies can benefit from reconciliation approaches tested in crisis-affected countries, argued Claudia Meier in her TEDxBern talk on September 7. She pointed to a recent survey that showed that, despite decreasing crime levels, Swiss citizens feel less secure in their own country. Drawing on her experiences in peacebuilding in East Africa and with a political dialogue initiative in eastern Germany, Meier said that creating spaces where different groups can meet and discuss challenges could help address this anxiety.
