The EU can play an important role in the Asia-Pacific by building cooperation around non-traditional security

The soon-to-be-released EU global strategy should focus more on non-traditional security issues, argued Garima Mohan during a panel discussion on ​“Asia-Pacific in the EU Global Strategy,” organized by Merics and the Dahrendorf Forum on June 16. To be a relevant actor in the Asia-Pacific, the EU needs to revise its external policy to address pressing regional concerns such as climate change, disaster relief, renewables and energy security, issues areas where it is already perceived as a global policy leader.
