South Asia is a major blind spot in discussions on EU’s new global strategy
The EU lacks an integrated strategy for its relationship with South Asia, argued Garima Mohan at the launch of the London School of Economics IDEAS report Changing Waters: Towards a New EU Asia Strategy at the Egmont Institute in Brussels on May 10. Europe has taken a piecemeal approach, focusing on single issues such as maritime security in the Indian Ocean. Meanwhile, the broader security and economic trends in the region, which have immense implications for Europe, have been ignored or insufficiently understood, Mohan said.
