Given that China plans to build 40 new nuclear reactors by 2020, the government must bolster its efforts to prevent terrorists from acquiring radioactive material to create dirty bombs, said Joel Sandhu in an interview with People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, on April 5. Commenting on President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, DC, Sandhu said that China has a responsibility to help thwart nuclear terrorism by securely storing its nuclear material and waste.
