National cybersecurity policy should prioritize improvement of CSIRTs’ information sharing mechanisms

As reporting requirements for critical infrastructure operators in the EU become more stringent, national Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) will play an increasingly important role in the management of cybersecurity information sharing, argued Isabel Skierka in a presentation and a panel discussion at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on December 14 and 15. National CSIRTs consequently have a greater responsibility to act as trusted intermediaries between citizens, the private sector and government, Skierka said.
