Global order needs acknowledgment of past abuses, joint practical solutions to current challenges

Both established and emerging powers need to acknowledge the history of exclusion and humiliation that left deep scars among emerging power elites, said Philipp Rotmann at a conference hosted by Wilton Park and the Pandiá Calógeras Institute outside Rio de Janeiro on November 22 – 25. But the only way to solve global challenges ahead, Rotmann argued on the basis of GPPi’s recent research on the responsibility to protect (R2P), is to strengthen practical cooperation on issues like protecting people from atrocities.
