India needs to develop concrete foreign policy on atrocity prevention

As the global debate on atrocity prevention moves from abstract principles to pragmatic questions of effective and responsible implementation, India needs to develop a substantial positive contribution to the conversation instead of simply calling for the primacy of prevention, argued Gerrit Kurtz during the Russia, India and the Responsibility to Protect” conference at the University of Manchester on November 6. India could take advantage of its considerable experience in UN peacekeeping and regional diplomacy for this purpose, Kurtz said.
