Refugee policy in Germany needs to leave crisis mode
Germany’s refugee policy is in crisis mode, leading to the improvisation of policy responses, argued Julian Lehmann in a discussion hosted by Stiftung Mercator on August 25, the opening night of its photo exhibition “Odyssey Europe – Flight and Refuge Since 1945.” Lehmann stated that Germany needs a planned and comprehensive policy response that is based on a more realistic prognosis of refugee arrivals. The exhibition, held at the Stiftung Mercator location in Essen, is on display until November 11.
