GPPi leads German National Academic Foundation seminar on UN peacekeeping

Philipp Rotmann and Sarah Brockmeier led a seminar from August 16 to 22 at a summer school hosted by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). The seminar examined the role of UN peacekeeping in protecting civilians from mass atrocities, 20 years after the Srebrenica genocide. Students simulated a debate in the Bundestag on sending more peacekeepers to South Sudan, in order to better understand the political debates in Germany about the country’s contributions to the UN peacekeeping system.
