More sea rescue needed, but no quick fixes in refugee policy
In an interview with the German Radio broadcaster SWR2, Julian Lehmann argued that the EU should substantially increase efforts to provide safety for migrants with aims to reach Europe by sea. Lehmann advocated for more resettlement in Europe, legal-entry procedures and support for transit-asylum countries, particularly in southern Europe, but said that absent solutions for stabilizing countries of origin, any refugee policy is bound to remain imperfect.
