To prevent atrocities, Germany needs more than a debate about the military
In a commentary for Frankfurter Rundschau, Sarah Brockmeier and Philipp Rotmann argue that Germany’s controversy about the use of military force is hampering a debate over using undisputed policy options to prevent atrocities. At the first anniversary of a public debate on Germany’s international responsibility that began at the Munich Security Conference, Brockmeier and Rotmann say that Germany and the EU are a far cry from having exhausted the potential of diplomacy, conflict management, international criminal justice and peace operations in atrocity prevention.
