Germany’s government should reflect on its role in the Rwandan genocide

Germany should have learned much more from its own policy failures before and during the genocide in Rwanda, argued Sarah Brockmeier during a panel discussion on Rwanda hosted by the German UN Association on 25 November 2014 in Berlin. Brockmeier presented key findings of her study on the German role before and during the genocide and argued that, even 20 years later, a thorough review of Germany’s role by the government could provide essential lessons for German foreign, development and security policy.
