Global team of researchers publishes special issue on the contested evolution of responsibility to protect
Together with partners in Brazil, China, India and Europe, GPPi completed a series on Major Powers and the Contested Evolution of a Responsibility to Protect (R2P), now available online. In the introductory paper, Philipp Rotmann, Gerrit Kurtz and Sarah Brockmeier argue that the debate over R2P has become a crucial arena for the future of sovereignty and military force — key tenets of the evolving global order. The papers reveal the true complexity of the R2P debate, long perceived to be a simplistic binary struggle between the global North and global South.
