Germany should not purchase drones, argues researcher
Germany is more likely to achieve its foreign policy goals if it abstains from purchasing armed drones for the German Armed Forces, argues Mirko Hohmann in an opinion piece published in German and English. Ill-suited for German military operations, the use of armed drones may be detrimental to the perception and consequently the security of German soldiers. Instead, says Hohmann, the federal government should enhance its broader foreign policy goals of disarmament and non-proliferation by working on current arms-control regimes.
