GPPi and partners launch ‘Zukunftsbrücke,’ a Chinese-German young professionals forum

In Beijing on 14 May 2012, GPPi helped to launch a new program through which 30 Chinese and German young professionals meet to work on pressing issues facing both of their countries. The program is called Zukunftsbrücke: Chinese-German Young Professional Campus.

The inaugural program this year is taking place from 14 – 23 May in Beijing and Hangzhou. It is titled Toward a Low Carbon Economy: Sustainable Urban Development in China and Germany in the 21st Century.

Initiated by the Stiftung Mercatorundefined in cooperation with the All-China Youth Federationundefined, and organized by the Global Public Policy Institute and Peking University, the annual forum brings together 30 outstanding Chinese and German young professionals (15 participants from each country) from the public, private and non-profit sectors to work on pressing issues facing both countries.

The campus aims to increase the level of mutual understanding that provides the basis for future strategic partnership. It also aims to provide a platform for intellectual and cultural exchange among young professionals in China and Germany. The campus fosters the development of a strong and lasting network of future leaders from both countries who will go on to engage in transnational collaboration.
