GPPi contributes to debate on the future of German-American relations

On November 30, GPPi Associate Director Thorsten Benner was a panelist at an event in Berlin titled What Future for German-American Relations in Post-American World?” The discussion was organized by The German Marshall Fund of the United States as part of its Young Transatlantic Network series, which brings together young professionals from around Berlin. The other speaker was Stephen Szabo, executive director of the Transatlantic Academy in Washington, DC.

The discussion was opened by Heiko MacKerron and moderated by Christoph Klavehn, both from The German Marshall Fund. In his contribution, Benner stressed the need to move from talking about transatlantic relations as an end in itself to discussing how Europe and the US can address trans-border challenges in a world in which the West no longer enjoys a monopoly on power.
