GPPi co-organizes 'Zukunftsbrücke': Chinese-German young professionals forum

On October 21, GPPi along with several partners introduced a new project that aims to provide a platform for intellectual and cultural exchange in order to foster mutual understanding among young professionals in China and Germany. Named Zukunftsbrücke: Chinese-German Young Professional Campus, the project is made possible by the Stiftung Mercator in cooperation with the All-China Youth Federation, and is being organized by GPPi and Peking University.

The Chinese and German governments jointly expressed their support and encouragement for the project as part of their inter-governmental consultations in April 2011. The inaugural program will take place in Beijing and Chongqing from May 14 – 23. It will last 10 days and bring together 15 German and 15 Chinese young professionals from the public, private and non-profit sectors. The first forum will focus on the topic of low carbon economy and sustainable urban development. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss this topic with policymakers and experts in addition to intensive group sessions.

Interested candidates must be 28 – 38 years of age with an outstanding academic record, at least two years of work experience, a very good command of the English language and a strong interest in the issue of low carbon economy and sustainable urban development.
