GPPi works with UN on newsletter about private-sector coordination

GPPi has provided and coordinated content for the 14th issue of the UN-Business Focal Point newsletter, published by the United Nations Global Compact Officeundefined. Sent out on a quarterly basis, the newsletter – which GPPi regularly helps put together – is aimed at employees in UN agencies who coordinate with the private sector, also known as UN private sector focal points. The purpose of the newsletter is to provide these focal points with the latest news, tools, resources and lessons learned concerning the UN system’s engagement with the private sector.

The new newsletter includes examples of new public-private partnerships, for instance a project of the United Nations Development Programme that links Sudanese hibiscus farmers to international markets. Another example, a multi-stakeholder partnership designed to eliminate plastic waste in Ghana, brings together Nestle, the Swiss embassy in Ghana, the UN Global Compact Office and the Ghana Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

The newsletter also features articles on topics such as non-financial reporting in Ukraine, efforts in Syria to achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals through private sector engagement and a study authored by GPPi and the UN Global Compact Office on trends in UN-private sector partnerships since 2000
