GPPi presents cluster evaluation results to German Humanitarian Aid Coordinating Committee
On October 6, GPPi Associate Director Julia Steets and Research Associate Claudia Meier presented the results of the institute’s evaluation of the Cluster Approach to the German Humanitarian Aid Coordinating Committee. This committee is the principal forum for discussion and coordination of humanitarian aid policy among German government agencies and German NGOs.
GPPi was invited to the most recent meeting held in Berlin to present the results of its findings from the second phase of a major international evaluation of the Cluster Approach to coordinating humanitarian assistance. This was an opportunity for GPPi to share and discuss the evaluation results with the German aid community. Steets and Meier first explained the positive effects of the cluster approach that were found during GPPi’s one-year evaluation. They then focused on the different areas of cluster coordination where improvements are needed. This was followed by a discussion on the recommendations of the evaluation and the involvement of the German NGOs in the cluster approach.
