GPPi contributes chapters to Fischer Weltalmanach 2011

GPPi Research Associate Björn Conrad contributed chapters to the 2011 edition of the Fischer Weltalmanachundefined, Germany’s leading yearbook on global affairs for the last 50 years. Conrad wrote chapters on six East Asian countries, including the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), the Republic of Korea (South Korea), as well as on Mongolia and Japan. The 2011 edition features a special focus on transnational and internal migration and the specific implications for each country. In addition to these issues, Conrad’s contribution covered the riots in China’s Xinjiang province, rising tensions at the sea border between North and South Korea and the historic victory of the Democratic Party of Japan in the country’s 2009 general election. Each year, the Fischer Weltalmanach presents updated facts and figures as well as a chronicle of events in politics, the economy, the environment, culture and sports over the past year with regard to the world’s states and major international bodies.
