Egyptian Cabinet’s Information Center visits GPPi
On November 28, a delegation of the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) visited GPPi to exchange views and ideas on policy research, consulting and debate. IDSC is a large, state-sponsored policy research institute directly affiliated with the Egyptian Cabinet, providing evaluations of current and future policy issues upon request of the Egyptian government. The IDSC delegation took part in a 10-day capacity building exercise in Germany conducted by InWEnt and managed by denkmodell, Berlin.
GPPi and the IDSC shared lively discussions which touched upon many aspects of policy research and analysis, especially focussing on different approaches to innovation and competition of ideas as well as the balance between independence and access to policy-makers. The great differences in structure but similarities in motivation between IDSC and GPPi created an excellent starting point for an interesting and mutually instructive exchange of experiences and insights.
