GPPi welcomes new team member
Joel Sandhu has joined the Global Public Policy Institute as a research assistant. Before joining GPPi Joel worked with Sister Cities International US, a non-profit citizen diplomacy network, where he served as the official translator to the Mexican delegation. He previously served as a research specialist in the office of the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Jim Wright, where he translated and recorded government and Cold War documents. Most recently, he worked in London with Policy Network as a policy officer on their Globalisation and Social Justice research team where he researched the EU’s role in economic globalisation. He has also published on trade issues between the EU and China; Social Inequalities and Dysfunctional Societies; and Global Economic Governance for Policy Network. Joel holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Texas Christian University, US, and a MA in International Relations and International Law from the University of Sussex, UK. His research interests focus on the EU-China relations, the WTO, global governance and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Joel will be responsible for GPPi’s website and newsletter as well as supporting GPPi’s research on the EU-China relations and global governance. Joel will start on 21 January 2008.
