GPPi fellow named to Portuguese Africa task force

GPPi Fellow Ricardo Soares De Oliveira was named a member of the newly constituted Grupo Africa, a Portuguese high-level task force bringing together leading academics, business representatives and policy-makers to develop strategies for dealing with Sub-Saharan Africa. The group will be coordinated by António Monteiro, a former Portuguese Foreign Minister and currently Portugal’s ambassador to France. Ricardo Soares De Oliveira who is also a fellow at Sidney Sussex College (University of Cambridge) will be part of the core group of the task force. Other members of the core group include Leonardo Simão, Director of the Chissano Foundation and also a former Foreign Minister of Portugal; Manuela Franco, former Secretary of State in the Foreign Ministry; José Nicolau of the Fundo de Energia de Moçambique (FUNAE), Assis Malaquias (University of St. Lawrence), Manuel Ennes Ferreira (ISEG) as well as João Marques de Almeida (European Commission). The group will be housed by the Portuguese Council on Foreign Relations (IPRI).
