Ceremonies have been held across Europe to mark World Holocaust Day, including in southern Poland where survivors of Auschwitz and world leaders marked 80 years since the death camp’s liberation.

In Germany, the government has remained a strong supporter of Israel and its military campaign against Hamas in Gaza. But amid warnings that Germans are losing touch with the memory of that devastating genocide, incidents of anti-Semitism are on the rise.
