Zoë Johnson
Communications Manager
Zoë Johnson is a Communications Manager with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin where she oversees the institute’s communications/outreach activities, communications channels and strategic communications. In addition, she is responsible for the production and publication of GPPi’s reports and other publications.
Alongside her work at GPPi, Zoë is the co-founding editor and illustrator of a magazine and podcast called Feminist Food Journal (FFJ). Before joining GPPi, Zoë was the communications manager for Fairwork, a global action research project focused on evaluating and improving working conditions in the digital economy. Previously, she worked as the digital hub and senior policy lead at SEEK Development. She managed content and communications for the Donor Tracker – a website supporting global development advocates with analyses of the largest OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors – and led the consulting firm’s gender practice area. Her other professional roles have spanned communications, consulting, publishing, and research.
Zoë holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Oxford, where her research used feminist methodologies to critically explore how processes of social, economic and political change in Ethiopia are shaping young women’s perceptions of their own opportunities. She also holds a master’s in Editorial and Advertising Illustration from LABASAD Barcelona School of Arts & Design and a BSc in Global Resource Systems from the University of British Columbia, where she studied food systems, with a regional focus on South Asia.
