Karla Kröner
Research Associate
Karla Kröner is a communications and research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin. She has a dual role, supporting research and project work on humanitarian action as well as advancing strategic communication in this area to amplify GPPi’s impact in humanitarian policy debates.
Before joining GPPi, Karla gained experience in political communication, particularly within the realm of humanitarian assistance. She has worked with the German Red Cross and the Red Cross’s Anticipation Hub, where she integrated communication tasks with topics related to international cooperation and specifically anticipatory action. Karla also held positions at the European Commission, the German Federal Press Office, and the World Food Programme. In these capacities, she contributed to social media strategies, press releases, event management, and the development of analytical reports and publications.
Karla holds a master’s in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, where she analyzed public policy through the lens of development, security, and humanitarianism. She also completed a bachelor’s in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz. During her studies, Karla participated in academic exchange programs at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Zurich.
