Ayşe Lara Selçuker

Ayşe Lara Selçuker was an intern at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she contributed to the institute’s work on Peace & Security, specifically on digital threats to elections in African countries. Her research interests include obstacles to constitutionalism in the MENA region, multilingual language policy, EU-MENA energy cooperation, and comparative religion policy in Turkey, France and the US.

In addition to her work at GPPi, Ayşe Lara is completing an internship at the Middle East Policy Council, where she contributes to editing and distributing the most cited journal on MENA policies, Middle East Policy. Previously, she worked as a Turkey press freedom intern at the International Press Institute in Vienna, where she monitored freedom violations and researched ways to better protect the freedom of expression and journalists on the ground. She was also recognized as a millennium fellow by UN Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network for co-founding a language exchange program to connect Sciences Po students with their Palestinian counterparts. 

Ayşe Lara is pursuing a dual bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean politics and government at Sciences Po Paris and in human rights with economics at Columbia University. During her time in France, Ayşe Lara served as the Editor-in-Chief of her campus’s oldest and bilingual student publication, le Zadig, and led the first Turkish-language Model United Nations committee overseas.
